Two hours later

Reba rolled her sweaty body off Jacob and released a sigh of satisfaction. Although Jacob was a few years from fifty, she’d never enjoyed sex with any other man as much as she did with him. He was like an energizer bunny. Maybe it was because of those little blue pills that Jacob took, but for whatever reason, Reba was a happy teenager. She could both receive all the money she wanted, plus get good sex on the side.

“I thought your flight was delayed,” Reba said.

Jacob scoffed. “My silly wife. She accosted me at the airport and forced me to have sex with her in the back seat of her car.”

“Ewh, that’s gross. How old is she? Like sixty?”

Jacob laughed. “Imagine my dilemma. It felt as if I was making out with Mother Theresa. My wife refuses to wear anything sexy. She’s dull and old and boring…”

“And don’t forget ugly,” Reba chimed in. “I don’t know what you see in her. She makes me want to vomit just looking at her.”

Jacob grew quiet as the reality of what he’d done to Errol began to sink in. He had sent an innocent man to jail, ruining his reputation in the process. If Errol had not taken the chairman position, there would be no need for him to play hardball. For almost ten years Jacob had been trying to get the organization to consider him for the job.

Although Errol had a squeaky clean record and people esteemed him highly, he was only thirty-six years of age – eleven years younger than Jacob. Plus, Errol was from the United States, where the organization was headquartered. It made Jacob question the motives of the senior bishops. Jacob was a native of Bliss Haven. How could they jump over him to select a foreigner with less experience? Well, Jacob had shown them better than he could tell them. With such a nasty scandal brewing, there was no way that Errol would ever recover.

“So, when am I gonna get paid?” Reba asked, breaking the silence. She played with her trinket, which had been given to her at birth by an African herbalist. It was said to possess certain powers that would help in her quests through life. So far, she had been able to seduce any man she set her gaze upon. Jacob was her desire. Errol had been an unfortunate case. She added in an annoyed tone, “I’ve done what you asked and more.”

“You will get your money soon enough,” Jacob said, a bit peeved that he’d had to share Reba with another man. But it was necessary for his plan to be effective. “Be patient. Any wrong move and this entire thing will go to the pits.”

Reba sat up and began putting on her clothes. “You pastors are more corrupt than us sinners,” she said disdainfully. “Well, Errol was manipulated; but still, I don’t understand why you all are jealous of each other.”

“I’m a man first and a pastor second,” Jacob said in his defense.
